Discover
James Bond Island Ko Tapu is a steep rocky monolith, about 20 meters tall. This rock column lies approximately 200 meters offshore of the two-islet pair known as Ko Khao Phingkan. The islands are located within the Ao Phang Nga National Park.
Departing from Phuket island, day-tours using longtail boats usually land at nearby Ko Khao Phingkan, where market booths are set up.
Ko Tapu has become a popular tourist attraction since it was featured in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun in 1974; for this reason, it is also often referred to as James Bond Island (the later 1997 James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies also includes a scene in Phang Nga Bay, close to James Bond Island).
Phi Phi islands
Phi Phi Islands are located just 40 kilometers away from both Krabi and Phuket. Thus, despite the fact that both Noppharat Thara Beach and Phi Phi administratively are a part of Krabi Province, most tourists think that Ko Phi Phi is part of Phuket Province.
Timeless Koh Phaluai
Koh Phaluai is the largest of the 42 islands within Angthong National Marine Park.
Due south of Koh Wua Talap, where the park office is located, Koh Phaluai's eastern shore has possibly the best example of mangrove forest to be found in the park.
Thai Culture
Greatly influenced by Buddhism the culture of Thailand is evolving with the influences of western and other Asian religions. Immigrants from China, Myanmar and Laos have all contributed to make the special mix of arts, crafts and cuisine that make modern day Thailand a wonderful tourist destination. Thais are a very spiritual race and also hold onto many superstitious beliefs.
It is good practice to learn some Thai etiquette i.e. never touch the head of adult males (the head being the sacred part of the body). However, you will find Thai people to be tolerant of any indiscretions made by visitors.
The Hill Tribes of Thailand (Karen,Akha,Lahu,Meo,Yao.Lisu) migrants from southern China still maintain their own religion, art, culture and dress.
